I was down in Colorado Springs over Memorial Day so I figured I’d try and squeeze some fishing in. We went to Crystal Creek Reservoir in the North Slope Recreation Area. It’s really close to Colorado Springs, less than 1/2 hour with reasonable traffic. The drive up has great views, especially once you’re in the recreation area. It cost $4 per person to get in. It was very accessible and pretty crowded, though not as bad as it could have been considering the holiday weekend. Not a single bite on the fly rods, but we managed to get a couple hits on a reel. I probably wouldn’t go back unless I needed to kill an afternoon. The area is scenic and nice, but the fishing isn’t that great.
